Bridges refer to man-made structures built specifically to overcome obstacles encountered during the construction of roads, in order to maintain the continuity of the road. Currently, there are various sizes of bridges all over the world. In this article, we will list the top ten highest bridges in the world, so that you can see which are the highest bridges in the world.

The top ten highest bridges in the world are:

  1. Beipanjiang First Bridge

Beipanjiang First Bridge is located in the Niuzhuang River and is a large bridge that connects Puli Township in Yunnan Province with Duge in Guizhou Province. It is also one of the top ten most famous bridges in China. Construction began in 2013 and was completed in 2016. It has a total length of 1341.4 meters and a bridge height of 565.4 meters, making it the highest bridge in the world.

2. Jinsha River Grand Bridge

The Jinsha River Grand Bridge is located at the junction of Lijiang and Shangri-La Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area, with both ends connected by tunnels. It is a steel truss suspension bridge with a total length of 882.5 meters and a bridge height of about 512 meters. It was officially completed in 2020.

3. Sidu River Bridge

The Sidu River Bridge is located in Yesanguan Town, Badong County, Hubei Province, and is one of China’s top ten highest bridges. It is also the first mountainous area super suspension bridge in China. Construction began in 2004 and was officially completed in 2009. The bridge is 1100 meters long and 496 meters high.

4. Puli Bridge

The Puli Bridge is located in Puli Township, Yunnan Province, and is a large bridge spanning the Puli Grand Canyon. It is also one of the top ten highest bridges in the world, with a total length of 1040 meters and a bridge height of 485 meters. It took 36 months to complete construction.

5. Yachihe Bridge

The Yachihe Bridge is a large bridge on the highway between Bijie and Guiyang cities. Construction began in 2014, was completed in 2016, and has a total length of 1240 meters and a bridge height of 434 meters.

6. QingShuihe Bridge

The QingShuihe Bridge in Weng’an County, Guizhou Province, China is an important component of the Guizhou-Guangxi Expressway, connecting the counties of Kaiyang in Guiyang and Weng’an in Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The bridge construction began in 2013 and was completed in 2015. It has a total length of 2174.1 meters and a height of 406 meters.

7. Heiji Jiaoxia Pipeline Bridge

The Heiji Jiaoxia Pipeline Bridge is located in Papua New Guinea and is an important component of the Southeast Mananda Oilfield. It is also one of the world’s highest oil pipeline suspension bridges with a height of 393 meters. Although it was not specifically built for people to pass through, it can support hundreds of tons of weight.

8. Bataaru Bridge

The Bataaru Bridge was built to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s independence. Construction began in 2008 and was completed in 2012. It is one of the world’s top 10 tallest bridges with a length of 1124 meters and a height of 403.4 meters.

9. Liuguanghe Bridge

The Liuguanghe Bridge is a large bridge that connects Xifeng County and Qianxi County in Guizhou, China. It has a large east-west span and construction began in 2014. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic in 2017. It has a total length of 1280 meters and a height of 375 meters. The bridge has won several awards, including the “Huangguoshu Cup” Award for Quality Engineering in Guizhou Province and the Li Chun Award.

10. Balinhe Bridge

The Balinhe Bridge is located on the Balin River and connects the east and west sides of the high-speed channel in Anshun, Guizhou. It utilizes several advanced technologies from both domestic and international sources and created several firsts. Construction began in 2005 and it opened for traffic in 2009. The bridge has a total length of 2237 meters and a height of 370 meters.
